Important: EM2 test-stand hardware components are NOT compatible with hardware supplied for EM1 test-stands. Do not mix TEM/TEM-PS/Transition Card EM1 with EM2 hardware. Hardware for EM2 is marked "EM2" on the TEM, TEM-PS, VME Transition Card and LCB supplied.

Documents:

The documents are in the process of being transferred to the LAT-DOC system for official release, please retrieve them from LATDOC's.

Here are applicable document numbers and selected copies of the documents in the release cycle (use them with caution).

Note that we do not perform impedance/short/open/voltage measurements on all pins, but test functionality of the system. The "safe-to-mate" test is the responsibility of the sub-system.

Found by:  Customer Complaint

Type of Nonconformance:  Minor

Discrepancy Level:  Non-Flight Hardware

Sub-System:  Electronics (ELEC)

Item Description:  EGSE CAL FM05

Supplier:

Location:

Drawing/Rev #:

Lot/Heat #:

Serial #:  TEM GLAT0865

Test Procedure/Rev #:

Description of Nonconformance:  The TEM/TPS from EGSE CAL FM05 was returned from NRL. The problem was identified by running the tests that the U62 COMMCNTL FPGA did not have a signal coming out of pin 108, CAL_CMD2 line. The FPGA has been replaced and the TEM passed all tests.

Disposition Area

Defect Code:  050 Electronic/Electrical

Disposition:  Rework
(Valid  dispositions:  Rework, Repair, Use-as-is, Reclassify, Return to Vendor, Scrap, or Documentation Change)

Disposition Instructions:  The defective U62 FPGA (RT 72 series) part which had no signal coming out of pin #108 when powered on in the TEM was replaced. The TEM board was electrical performance tested and passed all tests. The part was conformal coated. The TEM/TPS box was again re-tested and passed. This TEM/TPS from ESGE CAL FM05 will be shipped back to NRL when this NCR is closed.

Root Cause:  The defective U62 FPGA could have been an infant mortality problem as the TEM/TPS had gone through environmental stress tests at NRL.

Action taken to Preclude Recurrence of Discrepancy:  All flight FPGAs will be prescreened, burned in and tested.
