Serial ports on lat-elrond and lat-cirdan

These serial ports are installed on lat-elrond and lat-cirdan:

  • lat-cirdan ports: All five ports on lat-cirdan are available to connect to CPUs on the test bed.

  • lat-elrond ports: Four of the five ports on lat-elrond are connected to the lower left port on each of the test benches. The fifth is connected to the lower right port on bench 1.

Accessing the ports

These ports are best accessed via the vxw_term script:

  • Type vxw_term <port>, where the port is b, c, d, e, or f.

Port identification

The ports are identified with the letters c through f, and are mapped to the benches as follows:

b: Bench 1, lower right port

c: Bench 3 (elf1 - elf4)

d: Bench 4 (elf5 - elf8)

e: Bench 2 (elf9 - elf12)

f: Bench 1 (elf13 - elf16)

To refer to a port via its actual device name (for example, when running Tornado over a serial line), use the mapping as follows:

b: /dev/term/b

c: /dev/cua/dgrasa01

d: /dev/cua/dgrasa02

e: /dev/cua/dgrasa03

f: /dev/cua/dgrasa04
