GLAST The Gamma Ray Large Area Space Telescope

T&DF System Test Group

Electronics Test Group meeting minutes (6/21/04)

Attending:

Mike, Jana, Susan, Igor, Gregg, Mark, Philip, Van, Eric, Amedeo

Next meeting:

NEXT MONDAY, June 28, 2004 at 10 AM in the SIERRA CONFERENCE ROOM (Bldg 40).

Introductions:

Philip Hart is our new colleague, working on understanding the TEM scripts and ensuring that all necessary functional tests are being performed.

Thank you:

  • Thanks to everybody who completed their ESD training and contamination control training.

  • Thank you for wearing your wrist straps in the lab! (Keep it up)

Accomplishments (in brief):

  • GASU and SIU hardware is being collected so we can produce 15 GASU and 10 SIU in minimal time once parts arrive.

  • Test scripts - Register-level tests are in place for almost all units; functional tests for many hardware units complete.

  • GUI - progress made on new testing interface; though not ready for prime time, the GUI will provide a nice interface for our tests.

  • TEM - Functional tests are being understood.

  • FES - Procedure for using front-end-simulator to exercise all trigger lines has been mapped out; work is in progress.

  • Documentation -

1) A proto-web page exists. Look for it towards the end of this week. Your comments are more than welcome.

2) Test Bed introduction - Anyone needing/wanting a test bed introduction can talk to me about getting checked out. A document describing test bed use will soon be available.

3) Updates have been made to the Mike Binder; a safe-to-mate is being written for all units on the test bed.

To Do (goals for this week):

  • GASU - Complete writing of functional unit tests including GEM tests and FES tests.

  • SIU - Construct and test crates and crate testers.

  • TEM - Migrate TEM scripts into ELX package and submit to CVS.

  • Complete web page and submit to group for comments.

  • Set up a SNITZ forum for our use.

  • GOAL: To have a reasonably comprehensive set of functional tests for all units by mid-July.

Hardware priorities for the next 3 weeks:

1) PRU - Around July 7, Spectrum Astro will bring the spacecraft power supply to the test bed for testing. We may lose access to the test bed for about a week. Before they arrive, we would like to get LATTE running on the internal SIU crate. A mini-tower will also be put into 101 for related testing.

2) A test setup for the ISIS will be constructed soon, and getting the ISIS operational will be a high priority.

3) The test bed will be heavily used in the next few weeks for the PRU and for the FSW demo. All work on the test bed not related to the PRU, to the FSW demo, or to making the test bed fully functional can (and will) be pre-empted.

Enjoy your week,
Jana
