T&DF System Test Group

T&DF System Test Group meeting minutes (7/12/04)

Attending:

Jana, Philip, Susan, Van, Larry, Amedeo, Gregg (FSW folks excused to participate in FSW demo)

Next meeting:

Monday, July 26, 2004 at 10AM in the Group C Conference Room.

NOTICE:

During the PRU Roadshow, Tuesday - Wednesday of this week, we've been asked to reduce foot traffic in and around the dataflow lab. Please keep sight-seeing to a minimum and wear your wrist-straps!

Work in Progress:

1) Testbed schedule for this week:

  • Monday, 7-12-04, 7AM - noon: FSW demo

  • Tuesday(7/13) - ?, all day: PRU Roadshow; Spectrum Astro is sending out the spacecraft Power Regulation Unit (PRU) for an interface test with the LAT.

Translation: Spectrum Astro will hook the actual spacecraft power supply up to our fully populated test bed to find out if they can use their power supply to safely power all components of the LAT.

  • Remainder of week: FES testing/other

This schedule is non-binding. Contact Gregg Thayer, the official test bed go-to guy, to schedule time on the test bed.

2) GASU Production:
Ongoing. Here's what we have so far:

  • 1 EGSE (black) box, small*, with 2 DAQ boards. Going to ACD.

  • 1 flight (silver-colored) box, large (all connectors), with 2 DAQ boards. Going to ACD.

  • 2 EGSE boxes, small, with 1 DAQ board each.

  • 1 EGSE box, small, with 2 DAQ boards.

Those GASUs not going to ACD are available in the dataflow lab for test purposes, subject to my/Mike's approval. In other words, let me know if you need some time on a GASU-based test stand because it actually may be possible to schedule some. Hurray!

* "small" means the following:

  • 8 FREE board connectors (4 per DAQ board)
  • 4 TEM connectors
  • 2 LCB connectors (locations SIU-7 and EPU-0)
  • 2 (all) PDU connectors
  • 4 (all) Spacecraft connectors

3) SIU/EPU crate production:

  • 2 new backplanes arriving today.

  • 2 SIUs and 2 EPUS have already been put together.

We're *this* close to having a test stand (other than the test bed) that contains a GASU + SIU + PDU.

4) TEM goals:

  • Move TEM_PROD scripts to CVS.

  • Try to get a basic TEM test running on a GASU-based test stand.

  • Start planning how to migrate the TEM test scripts into the ELX package directory structure.

Warning: Moving/renaming TEM test scripts will necessitate some (hopefully minor) changes in the TEM test procedure. I will be the person in between the TEM development crew and the folks documenting the TEM test procedure trying to make this transition as seamless as possible.

5) OCS/OES:

  • OCS "upgrade" is proceeding. Amedeo is working with Ric and testing the code on one of the GASU-based test stands.

  • It might be necessary to make some small changes in OES to accommodate the OCS changes. Amedeo is investigating.

6) GUI:

  • The test GUI is almost ready to make its debut, but it waits for Amedeo's approval.

  • We will use the AEM scripts as a test case for the GUI. If the AEM works, we'll start integrating the rest of our python scripts into this system.

  • Documentation of the GUI has begun. Susan and I are responsible for this.

7) Documentation:

  • Thermal/VAC test procedures are being written.

  • Safe-to-Mate procedures are in progress.

  • ELX comprehensive performance test and limited performance test procedures are on the horizon.

  • Our web page is ready to go public. Any comments/questions/suggestions are welcome. Email me and/or Susan.

That's the update for now. There are a lot of things going on in our group, and a lot of progress has been made in the last few weeks. Keep up the good work!

Thanks,
Jana
