Online telecon notes for June 12, 2002.
Attending:
- Zhigang Wang (UCSC/TKR)
- Connie Houchens (GSFC/ACD)
- Jim La (GSFC/ACD)
- Steve Bailey (GSFC/ACD)
- Glenn Unger (GSFC/ACD)
- Mike Huffer (SLAC/ELX)
- Larry Wai (SLAC/I&T-IFCT)
- Selim Tuvi
(SLAC/I&T-Online)
- Ric Claus
(SLAC/I&T-Online), minutes author
I’m using outline format in an attempt to produce these
minutes quicker. Maybe they read faster
this way, too. Let me know whether
there are objections.
- Announcement
of Online release P01-02-00:
- Supports
pseudo-AEM
- Supports
LabVIEW interaction with SCL running on the embedded system
- Main
difference from last week’s discussion is that there is now no need for
non-pseudo-AEM users to upgrade their COMM card firmware
- AEM:
- Connie
says she has bud box (containing pseudo-front end electronics) and she
will start testing against it (commanding/event data taking)
- Connie
will start producing scripts for Glenn in accordance with LAT-SS-00363-02
- Mike
stressed the importance of letting Gunter and him know of documentation
updates that pertain to AEM electronics design documents
- Jim
La asked about the I&T Online ICD
- Ric is currently updating that
document and apologizes for the delay.
There is a lot to do.
- Mike
discussed AEM design
- Design
is progressing on the AEM. Engineer Mark Freytag is working on it.
- AEM
event data format looked unimplementable last week, but now looks possible
after various discussions. It
matches the AEM Primer document fairly closely. However, Mike warned that things
could still change.
- Location
of the AEM module has physically moved in the LAT, ACD document will be
updated to reflect that
- AEM
hardware design to be completed in 3-4 weeks. Mike guessed that ACD can expect to receive physical
boards at the end of the summer.
- Glenn
guessed that ACD needs 4 units plus one spare, but will verify
- Glenn
thinks that ACD can make good progress with the pseudo-AEM through
October
- Glenn
expects that multiple FREE cards will start becoming available in March ‘03
- Mike
expects SLAC will need at least two sets of AEM and FREE cards
- Glenn
doesn’t promise anything, but thinks SLAC might be able to get a FREE
card in October
- Glenn
asked about Mike's experience on testing of the pseudo-AEM.
Straightforward except for the event data format. Some issues with the ICD that SLAC
should have caught but didn’t.
- May
want to make some changes to the GARC and GAFE designs if there is an
opportunity. If there isn’t we
can live with them as is.
- Glenn
indicated that ACD is aggressively working on SCL coding
- Selim
has extended the dbsrv SCL package to support Python similarly to the way
LabVIEW is supported. He packaged
the changes up in a patch and sent it to Byron at NRL so that CAL’s pre
SCL legacy system can be used.
- Online
received temInit.scl from CAL and aemRegress.scl from ACD.
- Online
is working on understanding the performance issues the LabVIEW/embedded SCL
bridge has presented.
