Online telecon notes for June 19, 2002.
Attending:
- Zhigang Wang (UCSC/TKR)
- Connie Houchens (GSFC/ACD)
- Jim La (GSFC/ACD)
- Byron Leas (NRL/CAL)
- Dan Wood (NRL/CAL)
- Curt Brune (SLAC/FSW)
- JJ Russell (SLAC/FSW)
- Mike Huffer (SLAC/ELX)
- Larry Wai (SLAC/I&T-IFCT)
- Eduardo do Couto e Silva
(SLAC/I&T-SVAC)
- Selim Tuvi
(SLAC/I&T-Online)
- Ric Claus
(SLAC/I&T-Online), minutes author
- Python/HippoDraw (data visualization package) interaction work in
progress
- Will transfer real time event data from embedded system using
sockets to hippodraw
- Will also handle monitoring data
- Dan’s event data server is in the Flight Software code repository
- Will consider ROOT for data visualization as well as Hippo
- Electronics status – Mike
- Mark Freytag is making good progress on the AEM board. Document expected next week
- Changes to the TEM design have required it to go through another layout. Leonid Sapozhnikov expects it to be
done by the end of the week.
- To avoid having to support two kinds of TEM, the initial modules
will be replaced
- Environmental registers on the TEM have been settled. The TEM document will be updated.
- Curt is making good progress on the tracker portion of the TEM
- Command/Response, event readout, CalStrobe are all working
- Some issues to be resolved with TKR folk
- Zhigang asked about a C language interface to SCL
- There is low performance interface available that is used by
LabVIEW and Python to access SCL on NT
- Ric requested clarification of the need in an e-mail
- [Post meeting notes]
- We don’t provide a VxWorks development license with the test
stands
- Deliverables to I&T are in the form of SCL scripts, not C
code
- Progress made on LabVIEW/Embedded system connection performance
issues
- taskDelay(1) replaced with padding in Curt’s driver code to cover
electronics settling time
- Cost to call Curt’s functions is now ~100 uSecs
- Need to know settling time requirements for all situations
- Byron pointed out that there is a DAC that will cause trouble
- Found a taskDelay(1) in SCL RTE which is invoked for many, but
not all, SCL script lines. Trying
to resolve this with ICS.
- Logging mechanism for informational messages
- Need to work out calling structure
- Ric will work out a proposal
- Everyone is invited to contribute to the proposal
- This is not a trivial problem and will take some time to solve
- Report generation
- Similar in complexity to the Message Logging problem
- Goddard/ACD – Connie
- Slow response when accessing GARC/GAFE registers
- Successful register updates require two writes
- Trying to understand the issue with ACD’s electronics folk
- Post meeting notes:
- Perhaps they’re seeing timeouts from Curt’s driver routines? Not obvious on writes. Reads return an error code
- Selim sees the same effects, but only once, immediately after a
power cycle of the electronics
- The other two test stand workstations have been upgraded to the
P01-02-00 release and appear to be in good shape
- Have SBC, but no COMM card and no VME crate for these systems
- COMM cards being manufactured [Post meeting note: Mike reports
that the new cards have arrived at SLAC. They need some touch-up work and testing.]
- VME crate requests go to Gunther
- Selim reported on Alicia's work on the MS Access configuration
database
- A database schema has been worked out
- SCL loading needs to be implemented
- Byron asked about speed of Access access
- Currently NT only solution
- Working on bulk load of VxWorks SCL db
- No performance numbers available yet
- Eduardo
wants to discuss EGSE scripts for the Engineering Model next week
- Calibration
meeting on Friday
- Mostly
TKR & CAL related
- I&T/SVAC
and IFCT are clients
