Online telecon notes for August 7,
2002
Attending:
- Zhigang Wang (UCSC/TKR)
- Connie Houchens (GSFC/ACD)
- Jim La (GSFC/ACD)
- Steve Bailey (GSFC/ACD)
- Byron Leas (NRL/CAL)
- JJ Russell (SLAC/FSW)
- Tony Waite (SLAC/FSW)
- Mike Huffer (SLAC/ELX)
- Alicia Kavelaars (SLAC/I&T-SVAC)
- Selim Tuvi
(SLAC/I&T-Online)
- Ric Claus
(SLAC/I&T-Online), minutes author
- Core Online (Selim, Ric)
- Selim worked on some bug fixes for TKR
- Selim improved the Python to SCL interface using the Boost
package
- Alicia has been updating the LabVIEW browser screens to allow
register updates from the screen
- Alicia is working on a configuration tool based on Qt and Python
- Ric reminded everyone to please CC him on help request e-mails to
Selim so he can help find solutions
- ELX (Mike)
- One of the new TEMs is being loaded
- Post meeting note: The loading is complete and Leonid is testing
the new TEM
- AEM
- Conceptual design document has been received by Mike and
Gunther. Some iteration is
needed
- Mark is currently working on the GLT ASIC
- PSA
- Mike received schematic from Dave Nelson
- Parts have been ordered or are in hand
- Leonid has started designing the transition board
- LCB
- ACD (Connie)
- Ran into difficulties when trying to use Engineering Units versus
raw units
- She will need to write conversion scripts since EGUs are
currently not supported
- Potentially could use RTAS records to solve this problem as well
- Having difficulties reading register values with LabVIEW
- She will e-mail an example to Core Online with detailed
instructions on how to reproduce the problem
- She’s not clear whether she’s accessing registers in simulation
mode (local to the NT workstation) or actually talking to the hardware
- Ric asked about progress with the calibration scripts and whether
ACD will be ready to test the new ASICs with an SCL based system
- Jim wants to “to check with Glenn Unger who is the lead for ACD
Electronics”
- CAL (Byron)
- Have two AFEE boards currently attached to the TEM (one appears
to have a problem)
- Working on reading out a full log
- Seeing intermittent parity errors when reading RCs
- Ric asked that Byron and Mike (who is at NRL this week) get
together to understand the symptoms
- TKR (Zhigang)
- Has received the Online Workstation, but no hardware yet
- Will start learning SCL
- Working with VME COMM card
- Will coordinate script development with other TKR folk (Dave
Nelson, Johann Cohen-Tenugi)
- Plans (Ric)
- Working on a test executive trade study in light of problems with
SCL
- Considering using Python as the scripting language, Qt for the
GUI tool
- Scripts would run on the Workstation instead of in the embedded
system
- Would attempt to keep the architecture more or less the same as
it was with SCL so that SCL scripts can easily be translated into Python
- Byron is concerned about the pallet of widgets available in Qt
- LabVIEW can still be part of the mix
- Worrying about script performance
- The SCL systems will continue to be developed and supported until
(and if) we replace it
