Action lists after Meeting of March 23, 2001

To be revisited on March 30 , 2001

  1. Bob and Eduardo –  Revisit EGRET calibration statistics. Merge the LAT PS requirements into the tables.  (Actually, I think you'll need text to go with the tables to capture all the details  - the 95% containment and the low energy running will both require higher statistics.  That should be displayed clearly so the beamtime estimates can be done realistically.)
  2. Gary-  Operational plans for SLAC in 2003 and 2004. In particular, what beam will be available, are there major shutdowns planned, what are the current and beam energies planned for the LINAC, etc.?  Of course, these plans change, but if there is something known now we should find out. Investigate backscattered laser beam, Van der Graaf availability (and if possible how well we could measure 20 MeV Photons) at SLAC .
  3. Bernard – Investigate our requirements for 300 GeV. How to study backsplash ? Can we extrapolate (e.g. energy resolution) from 50 GeV all the way to 300 GeV using Monte Carlo? Do we need a special beam test ? Does CAL and ACD have particular requirements that make it sufficient to test them in a beam without the whole tower ? Bear in mind logistics problems for moving integrated hardware out of SLAC.
  4. Tune and Hartmut (consult with Peter Bosted, Gary Godfrey) - Coherent bremsstrahlung beam – Study feasibility at low energies (20 MeV) and possibility of adding tagger and  multiple photons issue (narrowness of collimator, etc.). Remember to investigate how accurate we can get time stamps (using beam gate ?).
  5. Eduardo and Tune (consult with Bob and D. Thompson) – Investigate impact point, energy and angle bins for tests. Need more details on EGRET experience
  6. Eduardo and Hartmut – Study usefulness of Engineering model
  7. Steve, Bernard  and Tune– 4  tower configuration. What do we need for that ?  Inter tower calibration issues. Which matrix 2 x 2 or 1 x 4 ? List pros and cons
  8. Everybody- collect thoughts for hadron beam and background rejection for the first part of the meeting. Bear in mind logistics problems for moving integrated hardware out of SLAC.
