Draft agenda for Science Tools tutorial session during the collaboration meeting

S. Digel, 12 July 2005

The session probably will be scheduled for Wednesday afternoon (August 31), and we probably will have about 3 hours available.  This is not as many as we'd have in an ideal world, but I think much better than nothing, especially if we have useful user-level documentation to back us up.

Topics (times, including time for questions, are in parentheses)

Overview of science tools checkout - Goals & scope, time limits,
reporting problems and comments, response functions to be used (15
minutes)

Review of documentation - kinds and access (15)

Review of data set (i.e., the source model) and data access (and data products) (30)

Installing the science tools - Windows & Linux (5)

Analysis Tutorials (100 total)

Data exploration - making maps and overlays, counts spectra

Observation simulation - briefly at the gtobsim and gtorbsim level, defining source models, GUI

Source characterization - via likelihood, including Python interface

Pulsar tools - including Ephemeris calculator

GRB tools - temporal and spectral analyses

Looking ahead to DC2 - what remains to be done from a science tools
perspective (15)
