Testing Ribbons
The ACD ribbons are now active detectors by default. This page attempts to look at testing the ribbons to show that they are indeed active and producing sensible digis and recon results.
First - let's look at Monte Carlo Data.
Tests were run using GlastRelease v3r3p5 - muon-patch source which is a patch of
2 GeV muons shot on-axis into the front of the instrument, the patch covers the
top.
Looking at the resulting McPositionHits, we can extract the hits for the ribbons and demonstrate that they are indeed active:
Next, we look at the resulting digitization data. This plot is a TProfile2D plot, where again we have MC x vs y positions - but the 3rd dimension is the ribbon id associated with the position. The ribbon id is represented as a integer, computed as: 1 + ribbonNumber + 4 * ribbonOrientation

Side Ribbons
For those of you looking for tests for the side ribbons, the following is 4 plots, one for each of four tests where a patch of 2 GeV muons was shot into a side of the instrument ... where the beam was perpendicular to the side in question. Plots of the Monte Carlo positions for hit ribbons were plotted:
