GLAST Calorimeter Software Weekly Report
Week of  19 July 2004

NRL

Sasha:  Investigated anomalies in the FLE discriminator threshold.   The net result is that our alleged 8 MeV threshold for muons was more like 20 MeV.  We now understand the cause of this effect but are still studying the implications for existing EM data.  A presentation will be prepared when we know more.

Zach:  Designed interface for CalResponseSvc.
Presented interface to Cal software working group.
Continued initial development.
schedule for completion of CalResponseSvc has been worked out, package should be ready aug 15th.

I expect to be able to complete this software package according to schedule.

Andrey:  for the past 2 weeks I have been occupied with analysis of EM muon data from SLAC.

We had a couple of very useful discussions with Sasha on how to do the tapering calibration.  The plot of the ratio of signals from crystal's 2 ends shows the tails, which we want to understand.

I am working now on getting data with muon's track coordinate in transverse direction (along the photodiode's surface), to be able to see how does the signal vary with that coordinate when muon passes close to the photodiode, and direct light component becomes important.

Mark:  Prepared task list and schedule for completing I&T software.  Continued validation and documentation of geometry.

LLR

Berrie & Pol:  Heidelberg conference so nothing to report

CENBG

Benoit: On vacation.

GAM

Frederic: Systematic study of GSI runs is pending (especially these events which are not seen by the EM); updating all my macros for GSI analysis so that they can be used by others (I will send the package to E. Grove soon); got funding for a thesis student starting at GAM in September !

Eric: started to install GlastRelease locally in view of future work with Benoit.

SLAC  no report

UCSC  COSPAR so no report
