GLAST Calorimeter Software Weekly Report
Week of 22 March 2004

NRL

Sasha:   Last week I finally delivered to Benoit Lott the nonlinearity corrections determined from charge injection calibration. They do not include the correction of small residual nonlinearity due to LEX8=>HEX8 crosstalk (up to 6 HEX8 adc bins) - there is still discrepancy between this deviation in carbon data and crosstalk measured in charge injection, which is 2 times smaller.

I was also working together with Pol to understand the disagreement between muon peak shape in his study and in standard muon calibration. One of the reason found to be the cut on transverse theta angle - use of the correct cut suppresses the low energy tail. Another contribution (~2% in peak position) is from non-uniformity of tracker reconstruction efficiency (dead zone). There is also ~1% contribution from difference in CAL_theta vs TKR_theta, producing the difference in path length corrections

Andrey:  I am almost ready to finish up with the failure-modes paper - only few more runs needed to be finished (these are quite lengthy though, because of reconstruction).

Once they will be done, I wil put things together and make a report.

Mark:  Working on CAL support for I&T (document).  Administrative tasks.

LLR

Pol:  This week, I've worked with Sasha at finalising CAL muon calibration. I also looked at the vibration test data for the CAL structures being build at LLR.

Berrie:  - Removing noise in Tkr to see the dependence in the Tkr hits and if it is necessary to make cool cuts to remove the noise or if it doesn't matter

Analysis support to the Mechanical ppl (vibrations) with Pol

Worked with Pol on Muons (he has sent Sacha a bunch of new plots that are interesting, comparing mu distributions as a function of the trigger).

Bordeaux

Thierry, Benoit: Since we found deficiencies in JQMD, we (Benoit and Thierry) incorporated the simple model EPAX into GEANT4 version 6.0, so as to have a working heavy-ion package to be later implemented in Gleam (cf.plot shown during the VRVS calsoft meeting) In parallel, Benoit continued to work on the GSI analysis. He extracted the reaction cross section from the EM data and looked into the hit multiplicity distributions.
