In his private code, Tracy is writing out the global coordinates, and also the identity of the particle which produced a hit, so he knows whether the hit comes from the positron or the electron.

The problem of the crashing macros seems to have been using incompatible versions of the Root files and I/O software. Apparently the code now runs in Root.
