Present: Heather, Ian, Joanne, Karl, Richard, Thomas, Toby
Core status: (Toby) See the Core status page, which this week features a diagram laying out the pieces relating to the PDR and their states of readiness. Toby made the point that presentations at these meetings should not be overly formal or detailed; they should instead facilitate discussion, which the diagram certainly did. Some of the issues that came up:
Cal Recon work: Sacha, perhaps due to a misunderstanding or unfamiliarity with our tools, is working on his cal recon classes within the TkrRecon package. They need to be moved to the CalRecon package, where they were intended to be. [ed. note: as of Wednesday afternoon, the move is in progress.] Also some priority has to be given to PDR-related development of these classes. For now Sacha is concerned only with the balloon.
AoRecon: This new package was put in to provide a path for benchmarking/verification. However, Richard cautions that the primary path for the PDR runs must be via the new cal and tracker recon.
Trigger: We need someone to work on it. What skills does such a person need? Getting something in place would also help Steve and JJ in developing trigger algorithms for flight software. Are there plans to deal with levels 2 and 3 as well as 1?
Root n-tuples: (Heather) Shouldn't we provide the equivalent of the Root n-tuples data (input to merit) for the lower tier, so that we will have a basis for comparison? Answer: yes, we should.
Analysis support: What do we need beyond the Root analysis classes and Root2IDL? Should interview Eduardo to understand why he needed something more for his testbeam work. (Also note Root2IDL is not - yet - a generic tool; it needs to be modified to handle different input structures.)
Digis: Tracy should be available to integrate the new tracker digis.
Generic XML geometry status: (Joanne, Riccardo) Riccardo and Dario should have a partial implementation in place in a week or so.Work on the stand-alone constants-evaluation program is done for now. Serious fans may want to follow the pointer from the geo status page to thoughts on identifiers and the identifier dictionary.
Solaris Port: (Thomas) This has become a more-than-academic issue. We increase our chances (which, granted are pretty good in any case) of picking up all the CPU cycles we need for the PDR runs from SLAC Computing if we're able to run on Solaris as well as Linux. There is a hang-up just now with getting HTL to build on Solaris. One approach considered briefly was to eliminate all dependencies on HTL, but closer inspection indicates that this is probably not a good idea.
GuiSvc: (Ian) He's working on making the interface for event selection kinder and gentler, or at least more tolerant of bad input.
Container Naming Convention: Heather made a plea that this be wrapped up so that work can proceed. We await an executive decision from Toby.
