Present: Heather, Ian, Joanne, Richard, Thomas, Toby
Gaudi Developments: Gaudi v6 is not yet completely up and running on any platform. Thomas is mostly done getting the old version of Gaudi to run on Linux.
ROOT: Heather now has a general procedure which can be used to make any class in the Transient Data Store persist to ROOT.
Recon: The CalRecon package is now ready to hand over to Cal people for further algorithm development, thanks mostly to extensive work Ian has done. See Toby's Core Report for some details. He is starting to do the analagous work for Tracking.
idents Package: Toby has made a new package to encapsulate identifiers for components of the detector. An extensive description can be found in the Core Report for this week. Classes for some parts of the detector are still to be defined, including one for the ACD. Heather will have relevant information to report following an ACD group meeting today. It remains to be seen whether the package can be completely self-contained, depending on no external input, or whether some set of configuration parameters should be passed to it.
MC Classes: Masanobu has made a draft of a new collection of MC hit classes. He is now in the process of incorporating suggestions made by Traudl.
Digi Classes: Richard has asked subsystems whether the classes used for Testbeam have the "right stuff;" it seems they do, so we should start with them in defining the new classes.
Query from Richard: For Testbeam and also for the balloon flight all four calorimeter gains are read out and appear in the data, but the flight instrument will only occasionally be in this mode; most often only a single gain will be read out. How do we intend to deal with this?
XML and Geometry: Joanne is working on an XML format -- most likely either the format used by ATLAS or something quite similar -- which will make the full description of GLAST (geometry and materials) explicit. To begin with she plans to use it to describe just part of GLAST, perhaps the ACD. The next step would be to write the utility classes which could interpret the XML.
January Workshop: See the proposed schedule here.
Planning Document: Richard has passed it on to the Italians, who are being encouraged to fill some of the personpower gaps (e.g. GEANT4 Physics czar, creator of Event Display) described therein.
