- New external libraries: (Heather)
We're about ready to roll with new ROOT, G4, Gaudi and CLHEP. Johann
got everything to build and run on Linux. He looked at merit tuples;
she looked at full ROOT trees and everything appears to be in order.
With new event selector protocol, we don't need an event conversion
service for MC (still do for ROOT and ldf, however) so some restructuring
may be in order. She recommends we wait for the big move until next week,
when key players will all be in the same place. Also would like to see
a new GR tag before the switch. (Richard, Toby) Small obstacle to this
is gone; Toby will make one this morning.
- LSF: (Heather) The pieces are all there,
but there are mysterious problems with one or both of Trigger and
Calibration Infrastructure not getting notification of new events.
- Branching problems: (Toby, Navid)
Weird things can happen (wrong package versions getting checked out, or
incorrect naming of correct version) when there are branch tags;
most likely this
is entirely due to CMT. Toby believes it all can be
laid at the door of one script within CMT which should ignore branch
tags, but doesn't. In the meantime, Navid has disabled automatic
creation of new branches. He is loathe to delete existing branch tags
because we would lose changes along those branches. David Chamont,
who has agreed to take on support of CMT, will look into options.
- DC2: (Julie)
Sky data are all generated; finishing up post-processing now. Jean
Ballet is working on catalog analysis. People are checking over
documentation. (Navid) Once a tag is made—should be any microsecond now—it
takes about 3 days before binaries are available from Installer, so earliest
that will happen is Friday [when Navid has jury duty!]
- Event display for DC2:
Here is the scoop from the source—take it away, Heather!
So they are going to use Wired and needed an update to our HepRep packages
to allow a request to update the ROOT files used for reading in events on
the fly during a Gleam job.
RootIo has been updated to provide such an interface, as has HepRepCorba
and HepRepSvc. Mark has been trying to use these new packages and has run
into trouble, saying that he cannot access event data from files he
believes he requested to be opened on the fly. There have been some bugs
in the RootIo and HepRep side, since worked out..and now the final problem
seems to be the JO file Mark uses, which accesses G4 and doesn't
actually read from ROOT.
Riccardo has since confirmed that, through FRED and the new tags for
RootIo,
HepRepCorba and Svc, changing ROOT files works, and he see the data
from the events in the display.
Post-meeting update: Mark updated his job options file and now can switch
ROOT files on the fly!
- CHEP06: (Toby)
See
his
report.
