Core Minutes 3/15/2005
Present: Joanne Bogart, Anders Borgland, Toby Burnett, David Chamont,
James Chiang, Johann Cohen-Tanugi, Richard Dubois, Warren Focke,
Riccardo Giannitrapani, Berrie Giebels,
Navid Golpayegani, Tony Johnson, Heather Kelly, Matt Langston,
Pat Nolan, Chuck Patterson,
Leon Rochester, Tracy Usher
- Infrastructure: (Tony)
- Pipeline Frontend of new version (allowing use of foreign
data sets) was ready yesterday, when I&T was hoping to use it,
but backend wasn't quite, so they had to retreat to the old mode of
doing things. Dan has since finished it up.
Igor
(started only this week, but already knows how to dress for the rigors of
the position) may help with testing.
- Workshop planned for next week. Navid will be coming
for it. Main topics of discussion will be future plans for Pipeline and
Data Server, strategies for maintainability and for making key deadlines.
- GlastRelease: (Toby)
Brian Wiener pointed out we hadn't been setting the ACD HI bit in
the trigger, now fixed.
We need to do a better job of keeping ntuple documentation up to date.
Is Doxygen sufficient, or do we need auxiliary documents? (Heather) If we
could merge the documentation for AnalysisNtuple and merit; that would
get us most of the way. (Toby) What about Trigger and other contributors?
CAL: (Richard, David) Zach has been
looking into the mysterious 4 energy bumps for 10+ GeV gammas;
no progress yet.
[News Flash! As of Wednesday PM, Zach has
found the problem; fix should be installed Wednesday evening. ]
David's work in CalRecon is backed up behind this. He's looking into getting
the CalRecon test app to do something useful. His abstract interface to energy
correction algorithms
is in progress. Inputs are understood; still working on outputs.
(Tracy) Frederic Piron
et. al. have been working on a MIP finder for CAL. Their initial version
ran in ROOT. Tracy was asked to port it into a Gaudi tool, now done;
they can continue their development in that environment.
- RM: (Navid) Windows builds are starting
to become visible. See the VC8debug tag on the
GlastRelease builds page. Checkout is working
fine. Results are properly put into the database.
There is a problem with accessibility of logs from the compile stage.
Access from Linux via Samba is somewhat flaky, but RM running on Linux
must see them. (Richard) We should file a trouble ticket with SCS.
(Matt) We could use our own nfs server on glast06, which will write to
nfs. (Navid) All the batch farm machines would have to have the disk
mounted (probably not feasible) for RM to reliably have access to the
log files.
Still more ∫ Flight(w, ..) dw
- (Heather) Latest EM tag is v4r60302p2. Expect another tag on Wednesday
[as of Wednesday, we do indeed have
v4r60302p3] and yet another
on Thursday, shortly before she leaves
[ ed.] for about 10 days
of relative
sanity. She has a list of additional things to go in by this last tag.
- (Warren, Matt) Since new backend wasn't ready in time, Warren
made tasks not
using foreign datasets, currently and unexplainably not working.
After a little technical discussion during the meeting, involving settings
of relevant environment variables, it seems likely
that this is understood and fixable. [Has been fixed;
Warren's tasks are running now.]
