The newsletter did go out pretty much on time last week; it was, I think, especially rich in content, and if you haven't had a chance to read it, I would encourage you to take a peek.I'm currently working on the ISOC website, and will finish incorporating the latest inputs from Rob later today. I'm then planning on incorporating Masa's new 'Pulsar Tools Anatomy' document in the Science Tools section of the WB.
Hope to post the Hiroshima photos tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest. I'm tutoring Helen on the process in the hopes that she will be doing more of this work in the future.
After these tasks are done, I plan to resume work on the SW overview and the pylikelihood reference material that was interrupted by a rather vicious little flu bug that hit me at the beginning of last week.
Core talk: (Heather)
Welcome back Navid! He is recovering from last week's surgery. Still on crutches. But no pain pills! Another couple weeks to walk without crutches.
Minuit2 is a 2nd generation C++ version of the MINUIT minimization code (originally in FORTRAN). It is accessible from pyLikelihood via the "NewMinuit" optimizer. See this reference for details.
[many thanks to both Jim and Pat for supplying many details about Minuit which I will try to include in Chuck's upcoming workbook reference section on this topic. - TG]
SCons RM (Navid)
SCons/Windows and GoGui Joanne is on vacation; see log for most current information.
Fred/FOX (Emmanuel) FRED runs okay standalone, but problem when launched via GLEAM. A CORBA-related connection error (a needed file was owned by another user), still investigating... Rebuilding HepRep CORBA package. Expects FRED to be running soon. Heather suggests modification to env-var definitions.
