Remaining before launch: (Richard) Two categories left: filter-related (OBF configuration, filter bits) and Interleave.
Filter-related (Heather) has neatly summarized current status as discussed in a meeting on Monday of interested parties. Briefly, OBF filter configuration using Moot is ready to go. Eric Charles has made a new package now in GR LATEST, ConfigSvc, which bundles together other (non-OBF) uses of Moot. Filter bits are done except for getting information into merit, which Leon is poised to accomplish. There are a couple minor roadblocks to making a release with all the new stuff:
(Joanne) For more information on using MootSvc, see documents on job options and instructions for remote users.
Interleave (Richard) In about 80-90k events Tom made on Friday, observed
Martin will look into the last two. He is most perturbed at the quantization.
(Richard) Planning a background run of 5 seconds per minute for 14 days; expect that this will take a couple days once we have a suitable GlastRelease. Should we include LPM? (Philippe) doesn't think it should go in the main branch, hence no need to delay the background run on its account.
Science Tools : Jim went through the Science Tools Update for June 17th.
(Richard) Remote users have been reporting problems installing Science Tools. Tony Johnson has just released a new version of the GUI Installer which should address them. Would also be prudent to make sure that the tools, once installed, are readily usable by Windows users. (Jim) is willing to act as guinea pig but needs access to a Windows platform. What's the status of our Citrix installation? (Heather) believes Rodney got it going. She has administrator privileges; doesn't know if just having a SLAC account is adequate for typical usage of Science Tools.
Documentation: (Chuck) Has been concentrating on pictures from the Collaboration Meeting. He'll be out of office Thursday and Friday this week.
Pass6 reprocessing (Tom) The Pass6 reprocessing of the 8-day background set for opssim2 has started using GlastRelease v15r6p1. This will also be a stress test for the xroot system. Some new xroot redirector code on glastlnx22 is part of the configuration. In total the 3,456 jobs will read in > 300k merit files. [Thanks to Tom for supplementing my scribbles. ed.]
Proposed Python release (Navid) has gotten a request to add zlib to the Python distribution; other similar requests are also pending. He'd like to make a new release, still based on Python 2.5.1, with these additional libraries. Any objections? (Jim) Fine with me. Would be good to write down the new libraries to be included to be sure it's the right list.
Core Face-to-face Meeting (Heather) will be week of July 7th.
New RM, SCons (Navid) The current SCons status is that I've been working on the tag collector for SCons. This is approximate 70% done now. ScienceTools is mostly ready to go with a few things left. There are a few handful of packages that I need to bug package owners about to fix. We need a Mr. Studio fix/upgrade to support SCons. Such a change will probably take a good bit of work and is approximately a 1-2 month long project. ScienceTools needs to also be ported to the Mac and possibly Rhel5 machines soon.
On the GlastRelease side not much work has been done. Most of the SCons files from ScienceTools will work straight out for GlastRelease. A new builder has to be written for GlastRelease packages that create Gaudi applications. The reason for this is that all gaudi applications share a single main function. This builder needs to include this main. All the GR packages need to be equipped with SConscript files as well. I'm hoping to receive help on this from package owners both to make them familiar with SCons and to speed things up. Finally the new RM will need to be setup to compile GR packages. The change to support it is trivial but there will probably be a lot bugs that show themselves once this is enabled. [Thanks to Navid for this report. See also the SCons confluence page for information on how to use SCons as well as status. ed.]
Restricting data access (Richard) xrootd already does authentication. Tony is writing a line-mode tool, also to include authentication, so that remote users can copy data home. It will then be their responsibility to ensure that access to the copy is restricted to LAT folks. We will probably want to turn off ftp-glast access to u52 which hosts L1 and ASP output.
