Present: Joanne Bogart, Toby Burnett, Richard Dubois, Heather Kelly, Michael Kuss, Sean Robinson, Alex Schlessinger, Karl Young
RootIo: (Heather) It can now injest Recon data. Still to do:
update classes to accomodate global coordinates in McPositionHit (when they're in there, which is not yet).
(Steve Ritz request) implement something so that by default ROOT output file names all get generated from a single specified "mother name".
Appears doable, meanwhile leaving open the possibility of specifying names one by one. Not high priority, though.
FITS interface: (Heather) The interface package cfitsio exists and has been successfully used by Sean and Toby to, e.g., read a FITS file representing full sky background. Heather will look into making a Gaudi service. Such a service could handle persistency. Also it could simplify use of FITS which currently requires several calls. A pre-built external library for FITS can be found in SLAC ftp space for both Linux and Windows but has not (yet) been installed, e.g. for SLAC Linux.
ROOT gui: (Alex) He is looking into adapting an old CERN effort. It supports Linux and Windows, but with essentially separate implementations. He will first try to get our macros to work with it on one platform, then tackle cross-platform issues.
Calibration infrastructure: (Joanne) First pass at classes to access the metadata database is done. Some revision of tracker bad strips classes is needed; should be done some time this week. Additional to-do:
Add write method(s) for bad strips
Implement full Gaudi protocol to make "correct" bad strips data set transparently available to clients like Recon.
Do similar things for CAL calibration datasets using ROOT for persistent form.
Gleam: (Karl, et.al.) Need to just bang on it by generating lots of events. In order to facilitate this, Karl will look into controlling input random seeds (to FluxSvc and G4), probably using Gaudi random service.
Test program still fails.
Test Release: (Alex) Will go live tonight. Should be able to use SLAC Linux batch machines for this; need to verify that they are configured suitably. Outputs of system tests will be managed by a relational database so they may be compared for different releases.
Code review: (Heather) Expect to review FluxSvc next, on July 16. Still could use more reviewers.
PDS/TDS philosophy: What services available within Gaudi environment should also be available to ROOT analysis? Discussion is ongoing within Data Structures Task Force.
VS 7 implications: (Toby) Probably will require rebuild of all our external libraries.
Delta PDR: (Richard) We're not expected to make a formal presentation, hence impact has been slight.
Comings and goings: Tracy and Leon are gone this week. Toby will be going to Udine next week. Richard will be attending CAL meeting at NRL Thursday and Friday next week.
