Present: Heather, Ian, Joanne, Karl, Leon, Malcolm, Richard, Toby, Tracy
Core Report: (Toby) See Toby's writeup. Topics for the week include Linux support (see discussion below) and continuing problems with random numbers.
Linux Build: (Ian, Karl) Everything now builds on Linux, but pdrApp doesn't run successfully. It crashes in CalGeometrySvc (in CalRecon package) and in the analogous place for Tracker code. It should be possible to track this down, perhaps even today.
Warning Messages: (general) In order to get the Linux build to work Karl has, naturally, been tracking down all gcc compiler errors; he raised the question of what to do about warnings. Some are most likely harmless (e.g., unused variable), but others could signify an error in thinking which happens to be compilable. Even a stream of harmless warning messages makes it difficult to see real problems, so the conclusion was that we should go after compiler warnings as well as errors. The package manager should normally be responsible for clearing up the warnings, as the person best acquainted with what the package should be doing.
Software PDR Matters: (Richard) First drafts of all written contributions as described in the TOC are due on this Thursday. Chief among the missing are Calibration, Code Infrastructure, and GEANT4 Prototyping. Another important deadline is August 3rd, by which time we must get our materials to the reviewers. Comments are solicited on the draft agenda.
Who's doing what: We again forgot to ask this week.
