Package reorganization: (Traudl) From this index page you can find links to Traudl's talk in PPT and PDF under "Suggestions for Package organization". This is currently JIRA issues CMT-31 for those who want to take a look. The presentation defines Container versus Module packages, among other things. Traudl concluded with some recommendations for package names and the humble suggestion of not mixing Container and Module packages as in the case of IExternal. There some healthy discussion afterwards:

(Toby) Regrets that Richard is not present to discuss his concerns over any reorganization.
(Heather) Asks for clarification concerning the difference between Modules and Container packages - which is the presence of a cmt directory under the main "directory".
(Toby) Asked does what new features from CMT v1r16, if any, this re-organization requires? We will want to be careful to be clear when we do move to v1r16 if we are no longer able to support v1r14. Traudl stated that she has been using v1r16 for months now and has had no problems.
The CMT features used have existed for some time. CMT v1r16 has mainly improvements for the InstallArea, but there are other improvements, of

which we should profit also (like closing the scope at end of requirements

file). Traudl mentioned that Alex had agreed to run an independent test using CMT v1r16p20040527 in an upcoming ReleaseManager build of LATEST (note added: the latest version of CMT is v1r16p20040701).
(Traudl) For the test applications of packages, we should be aware that the input files should in future be in a dedicated directory outside the CVS repository. This will simplify the dependencies due to the tests. Heather's new package rootTestData is a step in this direction. It is also envisaged to have a pre_ and post_processing step for tests as required by Joanne since some time.

(Heather) Asked what the plan would be for achieving this re-organization, while still maintaining our current structure. Traudl answered that TKR has already begun such a re-organization under the "users" directory in the CVS repository. Their experience may shed some light.
(Tracy) Later noted that the work concerning TkrRecon is mainly focused on the TDS classes but they are open to a re-organization. He also wondered how TkrUtil would fit in this scheme, given that packages such as AnalysisNtuple make use of it. Traudl responded that while we may tend to organize our packages into containers/modules, some packages may live at the top level.
(Toby) Also noted that it would be helpful to start with a smaller more simple package as a test for this re-organization.

JIRA issues: (Toby) Currently there are 54 open/in progress issues. It would be helpful to go through them in a future meeting and determine which could now be closed. In particular, Toby noted that there are 10 open major issues for PIPE (pipeline) and was wondering if they are all necessary? Dan answered that he is using JIRA as a log book to keep track of issues he does not want to forget and is just using the default settings for the issues as he creates them.
Toby also asked for the status of the JIRA issues assigned to Matt where the GLAST externals, packages and environment on SLAC WTS farm (alias Citrix) will be set up. Matt reported that the work is being performed with Rodney and has not yet started.
