Core Minutes 9/13/2005
Present: Brian Baughman, Joanne Bogart,
David Chamont, Eric Charles, Jim Chiang,
Richard Dubois, Zachary Fewtrell, Dan Flath, Riccardo Giannitrapani,
Tom Glanzman, Navid Golpayegani, Heather Kelly, Matt Langston,
Julie McEnery, Chuck Patterson, Igor Pavlin, James Peachey,
Leon Rochester, Tom Stephens, Tracy Usher
- Release Manager update: (Navid) He has completed
the changes to GlastPolicy needed for common lib directory on each platforms. The end result is that .so and .a (resp.
.dll and .lib) on Linux (resp. Windows) go to the univeral lib directory rather
than to the individual per-package binary directories and LD_LIBRARY_PATH
(resp. PATH) can be much, much shorter. Also libraries now
have a couple more fields tacked onto the name for CMT tag and cvs version tag.
libTkrDigi_rh9_gcc32_v2r4p7.so is a typical Linux name.
Coming up next: pfiles. Also, macros for certain packages needing to do
special things having to do with linking to libraries. (Richard) Should
confirm this is really necessary.
- DC2 issues:
(Julie, Richard) The plan is to make a 10 million-event background run and
a 2 million
all-gamma, give these to Bill, and then go for 100 million events.
The following remain to be dealt with:
- Onboard filter. Since changes to CalDigi, can we confirm that it's
behaving properly? Or fix it so that it does? Julie would like to leave
it off for preliminary runs, then perhaps turn it on for 100 million
events if it's understood by then.
- ACD geometry. Involves two changes: shrinking tiles to operating
temperature size, and adding iron screws to the model. The new geoemetry
shows an unexpectedly high increase in ACD hi triggers.
- Leon's work to simulate truncation effects on readout. Needs to be
checked out.
(Richard) What about "real" calibrations? Do we want to try to include them,
given that the corresponding information will definitely not be available
to the filter? (Julie) Would prefer to leave it out of 2-, 10- and 100-million
event runs; perhaps use it further down the road.
Aim is to understand/fix ACD geometry today, then make 2- and 10-million
event runs incorporating geometry and truncation effects overnight. To keep tabs
on what's going on generally, see the
Confluence
DC2 home page.
- Science Tools checkout: (Jim) Will have to
wait on Toby's return to implement cuts for Bill
- Pipeline: (Richard) Sometimes there is a
mysterious latency of 20-30 minutes in jobs starting up. It needs further
investigation, probably in conjunction with SCS. (Dan) It can also happen
that the Pipeline will be slow to record that a job is complete.
- From I&T: (Eric) He has been working on
AcdRecon, getting ready for data taken with towers + ACD, now expected
to be about a month from now. He'll talk to Heather about how to integrate
his changes.
Other SVAC work currently is in the areas of CAL retriggering and trending.
