(Richard) Pointing history generation also needs some work. It should be done by Gleam during L1 processing, and in such a way that we can have a different SAA definition from the one used onboard. (Toby) It could be done at the end of the job, though, rather than interleaved with event processing.
(Heather) is about to put out a tag for ROOT 5.16. This version does not have the bad behavior Toby has observed with 5.14 on multi-cpu machines: all threads insist on running on cpu 0. She plans to make a GR release with just this one upgrade.
Waiting in the wings are a new TkrRecon, a pile of new tags for Eric's new streamlined way to handle ACD calibrations, and some new CAL work from Zach, mostly affecting CalDigiAlg.
Bill says trapezoidal ACD tiles are not of especially high priority for the big run.
A number of SysTests have been failing because of packages not being able to find cfitsio...they don't really need cfitsio; it's an unintended result of the fact that the file ParticleTable.txt was kept in FluxSvc. It now can be found in extFiles, under $GLAST_EXT.
(Richard) Once SCons is ready, are we going to stick with the proposed 6 month overlap with CMT? Seems like there will be a lot of pressure to move on. (Eric W.) foresees the need for a substantial overlap for SSC. (Heather) can't predict how long it will take before MRStudio can handle SCons. (Toby) Will tools (e.g. MRStudio) be able to handle both styles of distributions? Directory structure is different, among other things. (Navid) Doesn't expect so. There will be two parallel RMs. (Heather) believes there will have to be a separate release of MRStudio for SCons installations.
There was some discussion of gtpython for HEAD and LATEST releases. Navid says
Here's the info about gtpython that you requested at the core meeting. RM is creating these for what was once called DC2 Releases. I used to create these by hand but the RM has created automated builds for about 6 months now. They have gone mostly untested so I expect a lot of bugs. But the RM has been creating them for tagged releases, HEAD releases, AND LATEST releases. For example for ST-v9r2p2-rh9_gcc32 you can see here. If you click on the link that says "binary release" you'll get a DC2 style installer that includes gtpython. This one is for a HEAD release of ST (at the time of this email this build is still going on so the link doesn't exist yet). A similar link exists for LATEST.
These binary releases only exist for unix builds (rh9_gcc32 and rhel4_gcc34) they don't exist for the windows side. For mac they would exist if RM was able to build mac builds without getting stuck in CMT infinite loop.
The new hire at Goddard, Emmanuel, has arrived and is slogging through the initial paperwork.
(Richard) Roberto Primavera and Paolo Giommi are visiting for the week. Paolo is the head of the ASDC (ASI Science Data Centre). They made cool web tools for DC2 – clickable sky maps with light curves etc. They are here to work with Tony and Max on extending the tools to more functions and integrating with local technology.
