- DC2 news:
- ACD and Muons (Heather)
In comparable runs, Gleam had 346 muon events which did not light up an
ACD tile while Alex's simulation, which we believe has a
more accurate geometry model, saw
only 8. (Since Alex's simulation doesn't include edge effects or
noise hits, these were turned off in the Gleam runs.)
This is what we (Bill) wanted: evidence that the Gleam model is,
if anything, more leaky than the real thing. Would be nice to know
where the extra leakiness is coming from.
Heather got per-PMT values for photo electron/MIP from Alex, which can
be folded into the digitization.
- Tracker (Leon) Still working on surplus hit ratio; behavior
is weird at higher energies. He hopes to have this done soon.
- Classification trees (Tracy) What was said about Orange
last week still holds: it looks like
a nice product, but it has one fatal flaw, at least in the short term.
It can't handle files larger than about 10% of our typical data file.
This is not going to get fixed in time for DC2. See these
links to data mining resources.
(Toby) There are two parts to the problem: creating classification trees
and importing them into Gleam. He has an idea of how to import Bill's trees,
but needs some help from someone with access to Data Miner. (Tracy)
volunteered; he still has a month to go on his Data Miner license.
- Remaining issues Julie has a couple: she has been unable to run some
of the celestial sources from Gleam. And what is the plan for
making FITS files? (Richard, Jim) Jim will handle the conversion to
FITS. He's waiting on the definition of the output.
- Randomness (Michael) He now has debug versions of ROOT and
G4 which might help in tracking this down. He thinks it unlikely that
G4 has anything to do with it, given that events either reproduce
perfectly or not at all.
- Interleaving backgrounds See a
discussion
in Confluence of this topic.
Builds, RM: There are a couple minor build
failures on Windows to be cleaned up: astro now needs
tip. And the TkrRecon
test program is failing because it can't find a file.
(Toby) Could we get rid of some
of the release builds? They're cluttering up the RM pages, making it
tedious to get to HEAD and LATEST. (Richard) There could be a display option
to limit the number shown without actually deleting anything.
- ISOC Workshop: (Richard) There is a draft
agenda in the ISOC Confluence pages (to which many don't have read access)
for the meeting to be held Nov. 1-2.
