- Weekend running: (Richard and Tom)
Ran 500 million background events over the weekend. Problems were
few:
- 19 seg faults. These occurred in code recently added by Eric Charles
to AcdRecon which uses the Propagator in an unintended fashion.
Heather has since made a release in which this code is optional.
- 13 pipeline problems
- 12 problems that went away when the jobs were resubmitted. These are
most likely due to problems with nfs, in particular with calibrations
residing in nfs. The MySQL server crashed. Copying the files to afs
should help.
Jobs were running so quickly that we violated the limit of 1000 jobs submitted
per user; Tom submitted 3000 at a time.
Now we're ready for all-gamma. Plan on 10 million events to start. [Update:
has been launched.]
(Tony J.) What about events from France? (Richard) Currently stalled at
about 3/4 complete. Something in OnboardFilter keeps banging on a particular
file; Computer Center there has turned us off. [Update: Navid identified the
code and, after consulting JJ, has a fix. Berrie made the change to his copy and
was able to restart running in Lyon.]
- Classification status: (Tracy) He needs
a few minutes of Toby's time to confirm that strategy #1 (using Toby's
filters) is ready to go.
He's close to getting a second approach, more impervious to changes
in Bill's analysis, to work. Should be ready by next week.
Data handling: (Tony)
- New release of System Tests last week
- There were problems with Time Histories because it was trying to deal with
too many releases. Max has put in a fix to exclude HEAD releases.
- The Astro data server has a new feature: it can deliver FITS tuples with
cuts supplied.
- There have been various small improvements and fixes to Pipeline, largely
based on feedback from Tom.
Upcoming Events: (Richard)
Aiming for Core Meeting week of Jan. 16-20.
Could start the 17th since (Leon points out)
the 16th is a SLAC holiday.
Expect date for DC2 kick-off to be chosen in the next week or so.
