Present: Joanne Bogart, Toby Burnett , Richard Dubois, Heather Kelly, Michael Kuss, Leon Rochester, Alex Schlessinger
See Toby's Core Issues/Status document for additional comments on most of the following.
gcc: Alex was able to build all the new stuff with gcc 2.95.3 on RedHat 7.2. Until Gaudi is fixed to run (as well as compile) with gcc 3.2.1, we'll go with 2.95.3. It will take some special handling on RedHat 8 systems.
Stable release: v4r1 still is the very last "old Gleam" (Gaudi v9, etc.). It will be maintained for people who don't want or need new code developments. Presumably we'll make a branch when and if v4r1 needs any bug fixes. Changes to v4r1 will be rare and carefully controlled. We plan to make a build of v4r1 publicly available on the SLAC GLAST group Windows disk (mounted as V:\GLAST for many users).
GleamRelease sandbox: This is ready to go; that is, packages under GleamRelease can be merged back into the standard modules. Changes are predominantly to requirements files. Affected package owners will be notified. We're aiming for Friday to get this all done.
VRVS 3.0: Our first meeting in our new Astro/CenA room was rocky at best. Although Toby could be heard perfectly by everyone else, he never could hear us, most likely a firewall-related problem. Conversely, Alex could hear us but for the most part was inaudible. Other audio and chat window problems were fixed by restarting audio, restarting browser or rebooting.
Additional features in the new VRVS should make it easier to fix some of the minor problems, at least, without drastic measure, for example
Can switch between RAT3 and RAT4. Go to "other clients" tab of main VRVS window.
Can restart chat window. Go to "participants" tab of main window
NOTE: For next week's meeting and probably some weeks to come we'll retreat to VRVS 2. Still at 8 AM on Tuesday, though.
