Present: Joanne Bogart, Toby Burnett, Xin Chen, Richard Dubois, Marco Frailis, Riccardo Giannitrapani, Heather Kelly, Leon Rochester, Alex Schlessinger, Tracy Usher
GleamRelease: See current status in the Gaudi 11 conversion page. The elimination of the sandbox is imminent. After the meeting Alex will merge changes, virtually all of them to requirements files, and then notify package owners for final touch-up. As in the sandbox, all interface packages (including Gaudi, though it is handled somewhat differently than the others) will be accessed via the IExternal container package.
The supported Linux gcc compiler version will be 2.95.3. It is specified by setting CMTCONFIG to rh72_gcc2953. Alex will supply comprehensive instructions, to be integrated into the How-to documentation. For now see Toby's notes on SLAC Linux set-up in the conversion page.
Binaries of releases will be available on SLAC Linux somewhere (TBD) in nfs space, so that developers will be able to just build the packages they're working on by setting CMTPATH to include the desired release.
We had status reports on several additional projects, most but not all appearing in the SAS timeline.
ACD ribbons: (Heather) Necessary changes have been made to AcdDigi and handling of ACD identifiers for sensitive ribbons.
EM data format: (Heather) can open an EM data file and get events. She is working on parsing tracker data (for now, tracker and cal are all we have to deal with). She has some instructive code (albeit accompanied by disclaimers) from JJ.
ROOT stuff: (Heather) Problems linking ROOT and Idl on Windows are impeding progress on Root2Idl. Nothing has been done recently on ROOT persistency. First use will probably be for calibration data, which is likely to be simpler to handle than event data in some respects. By March a new recruit may be available to help with ROOT matters.
Calibration infrastructure: (Joanne) Only a couple pieces are left to do before a thorough test of the scheme (for trivial data in XML format only) can be conducted. See the updated web page, particularly the Players and To-do sections. Debugging should start some time this week.
Meanwhile Sasha has written some calorimeter calibration classes. Tracker is currently using the old-style ascii file for strip status. Joanne hopes to be able to provide clearer instructions on how the XML version will look and how to use it once testing with the trivial XML data is well underway.
FRED: (Riccardo) He and Marco have recently completed a refactoring which increases the flexibility of the facility. In particular users can add their own widgets. Riccardo is going to look into accessing FRED from ROOT. FRED works on both Linux and Windows. It depends on several external packages; we need a simple scheme for distribution. Riccardo will give a presentation on FRED in a couple weeks.
DPF: (Alex) Has been on hold during GleamRelease work, but he expects to get back to it soon. If all goes well Dan Flath will soon be working for us again, half-time on DPF and related matters, half-time with Seth on Science Tools.
Then there were some additional administrative items:
CHEP03: Abstracts did get turned in on time. Working on travel money now. Assuming Riccardo goes, he thinks it likely he'll also be able to visit at SLAC for an additional week before or after the meeting.
ACD CDR: Started at 5:30 AM PST this morning.
Probable absence: Richard will be in Berkeley for some part, probably substantial, of next week for review of US LHC computing. It is likely to impact his ability to attend GLAST meetings (detailed schedule isn't known yet).
