Present: Alex, Heather, Joanne, Karl, Leon, Marco, Michael, Riccardo, Richard, Toby, Tracy, Traudl
Documentation Task Force: (Heather) We had our second meeting yesterday. See the minutes here. Our draft of code documentation recommendations will be released to the larger crowd (Softlist) no later than tomorrow. There are still some partially-open issues:
what to do about more extensive documentation which might benefit by links to other documents, such as images (issue brought up by Regis). Since Doxygen comments in implementation files are discouraged it can't go there. In some cases this kind of thing could go into Cyberdocs. Or, for information closely tied to the implemtation one could put it into a separate document in the package's doc directory (which should have an image subdirectory).
what about adding statics to all files to keep track of versioning information? Probably we can do an adequate job with existing tools (much less effort).
Richard suggests we add examples of real code which follow all the recommendations. ACDRecon may be a good candidate package.
Should we continue with plans for a code documentation review of TkrRecon? Yes.
Core Issues: (Toby) See details in his report.
Joanne's new test program produces this output, detailing use of materials in the detector model.
Work is still in progress on the new DetModelSvc package and how best to interface detModel to Gaudi.
It should now be possible to check in the new GismoGenerator, which uses detModel to produce complete irf files, including MC truth, without adversely impacting Tracker development.
There is nothing preventing us from moving to the new CMT (v1r10p20011126) except perhaps a little more testing. We should also embark on the more complicated move to Gaudi v9r01 and gcc 3.0, and should investigate Visual C++ 7.0.
Release Packaging: (Alex) Two versions of pdrApp and all supporting external libraries are now available as RPMs. See this page for access to the binaries and some background on RPM's: what they are and how they work. Madhup is working on a snazzy Windows installer. [ed. Meanwhile, Alex is making a (Win)zip file for pdrApp v7r2.]
ROOT: (Heather) See a massive todo list here. The very first item on the list, upgrade to ROOT 3.02.07, needs to wait until the other upgrades (CMT, Gaudi, etc.) are in place. Even with such a long list, Tracy noticed a lack: that there is no mention of Merit. Do we want to integrate Merit into ROOT altogether, or should we continue to maintain a stand-alone version?
Specs in Progress: Karl, Karen and Richard have been working on a draft database spec which should be available for release next week, as should Karl's Release Manager spec.
