G4 Simulation: (Toby) Materials are now up to date (same as pdrApp materials). The simulation includes the physically-significant thermal blanket and spacecraft; however some people may be disappointed by the lack of nifty solar panels.
The hot topic now is processing hits. A new XML attribute has been added to make it easier to determine what kind of detector received the hit. Work is in progress to produce proper digis. Tune in next week to hear what results from Toby's imminent trip to Udine.
High-energy Event Mystery: (Karl) Using pdrApp v7r1, a 100 gev event takes 15 minutes and a 300 gev event takes forever, or at least more than 4 hours. What's going on here? Toby suggests taking a look in the debugger.
Documentation Task Force: (Heather) This new entity is up and running with an imposing-looking charge. The new templates package will be used to present documentation style, coding rules, and even guidance on such things as writing Gaudi algorithms and services.
Binary Code Distribution: (Alex) There is a Linux binary release of pdrApp v7r2. After unpacking, one is expected to use CMT for set-up (of environment variables, for example). The next goal is to make binary and development RPMs, which will further simplify the installation procedure.
ROOT and Merit: (Tracy) It would be useful to do the sorts of things Merit does in an interactive environment in which cuts can be varied, data extracted and plotted, etc., so Tracy embarked on a project to plug Merit into Root. Bottom line is he got something which works, but not (yet?) something which would be appropriate to check back into CVS as a replacement for the old Merit.
