Linux setup at SLAC

Karl has modified group.cshrc. See the setup instructions.

Release builds at /nfs/slac/g/glast/ground/releases: currently one finds

GaudiSys_v7
gismosys_v5r1
gismosys_v5r2
gismosys_v5r4
gismosys_v5r4p1
pdrApp_v6r4
pdrApp_v6r5

This is now done by hand. The procedure is, for example

  1. cd gismosys_v5r4p1
  2. cmt co -r v5r4p1 gismosys
  3. cd gismosys/v5r4p1/cmt; cmt show uses
  4. edit the output from "cmt show uses" to make a list of <package> <version> pairs.
  5. Issue the list of "cmt co -r <version> <package>" commands.
  6. cd gismosys/v5r4p1/cmt; cmt broadcast gmake

automatic build facilities for linux, Windows

Objective: give non-linux developers an easy way to test packages against a standard build.

Status: now that pre-built releases are available, the steps to follow by hand, or a script are:

  1. Define CMTPATH
  2. cd to a tmp folder, say /tmp/<username>
  3. cmt co <package>
  4. cd to package's cmt folder
  5. gmake

[A reason to use a tmp folder is to ensure space, and make the procedure accessible to ssh login from outside SLAC.]

PDR

Released v6r5 on windows and linux.  Then v6r5p1 to correct for omission of acdRecon. Did not include new TkrRecon, just tagged by Leon as he left. Note that the patch versions were simply added to the unpatched checkout. Also note: the now super-improved tracking is not yet in the PDR release, but will be in pdrApp v7, on the way.

New CMT:. Testing the latest v1r9 version, was used to create all the release stuff, works fine on Windows. Suggest that we start using it.
